Pyramid Lake is closed to Trout fishing as of July 1st. It will re-open on October 1st. It was one of the best seasons we have ever had and we hope you had a great year as well. We had 15 clients catch fish over 10 pounds and 3 clients over 15 pounds. This was our third consecutive season (over 200 trips) without getting skunked at Pyramid Lake on a full day guide trip. We also had at least 10 clients with 30 plus fish days this year alone. We also have 6 new fly rod world records and 2 all tackle world records from this past season.
Some of this is due to knowing the lake and moving a lot to find fish and get the conditions we are looking for. Some is a result of our techniques in which we have been teaching at Pyramid for over 12 years and the rest is due to our superior fly patterns of which most our team of guides designed. Each year we seem to come up with something new. It is very important, especially late in the season when fish seem to be more picky and have seen plenty of the run of the mill flies like Copper John’s.
